Specificity
DOG1/TMEM16A is expressed ubiquitously in gastrointestinal stromal tumors irrespective of c-kit or PDGFR alpha mutation status. Reactivity for DOG1/TMEM16A may aid in the diagnosis of gastrointestinal stromal tumors, including PDGFRA mutants that fail to express c-kit antigen, and lead to appropriate treatment with imatinib mesylate, an inhibitor of the c-kit tyrosine kinase.

Positive Control: Gastrointestinal stromal tumor tissue Staining Protocol: We suggest an incubation period of 30-60 minutes at room temperature. Optimal incubation conditions should be determined by the user based upon the fixation conditions and staining system employed. If a 6mL or 7mL pre-diluted size is purchased this product can be used Neat (without further dilution). Use recommended dilution for the concentrated vials only.

Background
TMEM16A belongs to the anoctamin family. TMEM16A acts as a calcium-activated chloride channel. It is required for normal tracheal development.
