Background

CPNE6 (Copine VI (neuronal)) is a brain-specific member of the copine family, which exhibit calcium-dependent phospholipid binding properties. It contains two N-terminal C2 domains, which mediate calcium-dependent interactions with phospholipids. It associates with secretory vesicles in a calcium-dependent manner. It may function in membrane trafficking and have a role in synaptic plasticity.
