Background

TMEM204, also known as Claudin-like protein of 24 kDa (CLP24), is a cell surface protein with four transmembrane domains and a C-terminal PDZ motif. TMEM204 localizes to adherens junctions between epithelial and endothelial cells. It is involved in regulating paracellular flux and is upregulated under hypoxic conditions. Human TMEM204 shares 88% aa sequence identity with mouse and rat TMEM204.
