• Application Notes: WB: Preliminary experiments gave an approx. 50 kDa band in human prostate lysates after 1 ug/ml antibody staining. Please note that currently we cannot find an explanation in the literature for the band we observe given the calculated size of 38.7 kDa band according to NP_085146.2 and of 39.2 kDa band according to NP_663693.1. The 50 kDa band was successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide.

Background

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the apolipoprotein L family and may play a role in lipid exchange and transport throughout the body, as well as in reverse cholesterol transport from peripheral cells to the liver. Two transcript variants encoding two different isoforms have been found for this gene. Only one of the isoforms appears to be a secreted protein. [provided by RefSeq]
