  1. I have an inquiry regarding PRSS35 and PRSS23 recombinant proteins. In the website, it is stated that these molecules are not active, however in the paper Lebleu VS, Teng Y, O'Connell JT et al. Identification of human epididymis protein-4 as a fibroblast-derived mediator of fibrosis. Nat Med 2013 Feb [PMID: 23353556], it is stated that these proteases bought from you have been used in an activity test with success. Can you please confirm me if the molecules you sell are actually active?
    • H00011098-P01 and H00167681-P01 are produced by a Taiwanese company called Abnova and we distribute it for them. We do no in-house testing or development of their products. They do not test the activity of their recombinant proteins. The proteins are produced in a cell-free wheat germ system with an N-terminal 26kDa GST-tag. Due to this expression system, in our experience, the proteins do not always undergo the same folding and post-transnational modifications they might undergo in an endogenous cell. Because of this, we do not recommend this protein for use in functional assays and do not guarantee them for this use. They are mainly intended for use in Western Blots as a positive control with their antibodies. However, it appears that these two proteins may be an exception and actually are active as H00011098-P01 and H00167681-P01 were the products used.
