Background

Recent studied have shown that estrogen influences many cancers through the estrogen related receptor. This receptor has been show to stimulate PDK4 expression in breast cancer. In breast, cervical and lung cancer, estrogen influences cell proliferation and the expression of VMAT2, AGR2, xCT and/or striatin. Investigating all of these potential cancer markers when investigating estrogen effects on cancer could be valuable insight into the importance of estrogen in cancer.
