Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Biotin, anti-Rabbit Serum as well as purified and partially purified Ascorbate Oxidase [cucurbita]

• Application Notes: This product has been tested by ELISA and western blot. This product is assayed against 1.0 ug of Ascorbate Oxidase in a standard capture ELISA using Peroxidase Conjugated Streptavidin and ABTS (2,2'-azino-bis-[3-ethylbenthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid]) as a substrate for 30 minutes at room temperature. A working dilution of 1:2,000 to 1:10,000 of the reconstitution concentration is suggested for this product.

Background

Ascorbate Oxidase is a copper-containing enzyme. It catalyzes the following reaction: Ascorbic acid + O2 -----> Dehydroascorbic acid + H2O. Ascorbate Oxidase is widely distributed and is only present in plants. Its biological role in plants is still not clear. Studies after increasing and reducing the enzyme activity suggest that it has a positive effect on plant growth. In addition, it has been proposed that the enzyme may be involved in plant defense by modifying the ascorbate level and thus redox state in apoplast.
