Description
Belonging to the SLC12A transporter family, NKCC1 is located on the basolateral membrane of secretory epithelia. Playing an important role in ionic balance and cell volume, NKCC1 is an electrically silent transporter system that mediates sodium, potassium and chloride transport and reabsorption. NKCC1 has interaction with OXSR1, STK39, MAPK14, UBC and RANBP2. Diseases associated with NKCC1 include hearing loss, growth failure, bleeding, torticollis and small intestinal prolapse and Bartter disease.
