Background

West Nile (WN), the most widespread among flaviviruses, was first isolated from the serum of a febrile woman in 1937 in the West Nile district of Uganda. West Nile virus was first detected in North America in 1999 and has subsequently spread throughout the United States and Canada and into Mexico and the Caribbean. In Africa, southern Europe, western Asia, and the United States, WNV has been isolated from mosquitoes of more than 40 species. In the United States, Canada, and Israel, WNV is responsible for significant avian mortality.

  West Nile Virus Protein E / WNV envelope antibody used for WB and ICC-IF applications. WB performed on whole cell lysates of control and induced iRapKO MEFs that were inoculated at 72 h after induction with 1 106 PFU WNV/well (MOI of 1) and harvested at differentr times postadsorption [FIG 8A] as well as on control and induced iRicKO MEF cells which were inoculated at 72 h postinduction with 1 106 PFU WNV/well (MOI of 3) followed by harvesting at different times postadsorption [FIG 8B]. For ICC-IF, EtOH-induced, control MEF cells and 4OHT-induced iRapKO MEF cells were inoculated with 1 X105 PFU WNV per well at 72 hours postinduction and immunostaining analysis was performed at 24 hpa with 10 minutes of fixation using 4% paraformaldehydein-PBS [FIG 9A]. [Note:- This paper cites the use of mouse monoclonal WNV envelope antibody, however, the authors confirmed that actually rabbit polyclonal NB100-56744 was used for these experiments].
