RPIP8 is a gene that codes for a protein that has four isoforms, with lengths of 446, 400, 405, and 364 amino acids long and weights of approximately 50, 45, 46, and 41 kDa, respectively. RPIP8 functions as an effector of RAP2A in neuronal cells. Current research is being done on diseases and disorders relating to this gene including dementia, ataxia, malaria, and neuronitis. RPIP8 has also been shown to have interactions with RAP2B, GFI1B, EIF3E, AP2M1, and AP1M1.
