Description
IPO13 is a member of the importin-beta superfamily (see MIM 602738). Importins mediate translocation through nuclear pore complexes. Cooperation with the RanGTPase system allows them to bind and subsequently release their substrates on opposite sides of the nuclear envelope ensuring direct nucleocytoplasmic transport (Mingot et al., 2001 [PubMed 11447110]).[supplied by OMIM]
