Description
IFNAR2, also known as Interferon alpha/beta receptor 2, has 3 isoforms, an isoform 1 that is 515 amino acid and 58 kDa, an isoform 2 that is 331 amino acid and 37 kDa, and an isoform3 that is 239 amino acid and 27 kDa; expressed in blood cells, lymphoblastoid and fibrosarcoma cell lines, isoform 3 is detected in the urine; is a type I membrane protein that forms one of the two chains of a receptor for interferons alpha and beta, stimulates Janus protein kinases, which in turn phosphorylate several proteins, including STAT1 and STAT2. Current research is being performed on several diseases and disorders including interferon, hepatitis c, hepatitis b, multiple sclerosis, measles, hepatocellular carcinoma, liver disease, breast cancer, myeloma, carcinoma, melanoma, adenocarcinoma, respiratory syncytial virus bronchiolitis, portal vein thrombosis, dengue hemorrhagic fever, cervical intraepithelial neoplasia, renal cell carcinoma, hemorrhagic fever, hepatitis c, and japanese encephalitis. This protein has been shown to interact with over 50 proteins including USP18, STAT2, GNB2L1, JAK1, and IFNA13 in cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction, osteoclast differentiation, toll-like receptor signaling pathway, Jak-STAT signaling pathway, natural killer cell mediated cytotoxicity, hepatitis C, measles, THC differentiation pathway, regulation of IFNA signaling and influenza A pathways.
