Description
Helicase-like Transcription Factor (HLTF) is a member of the the SWI/SNF family of nuclear enzymes that remove proteins that coil around DNA. Members of this family have helicase and ATPase activities and are thought to regulate transcription of certain genes by altering the chromatin structure around those genes. HLTF proteins aid the stabilization and regulation of the production of proteins in the cell. Inactivation of the HTLF gene may contribute to the transformation of normal colon cells into cancer cells.
