• Application Notes: WB: Preliminary experiments gave an approx. 45 kDa band in human liver lysates after 0.3 ug/ml antibody staining. Please note that currently we cannot find an explanation in the literature for the band we observe given the calculated size of 33.4 kDa band according to NP_997000.2. The 45 kDa band was successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide. IHC-P: Human liver shows staining of nucleoli in select hepatocytes.

Background

C14orf68 is an uncoupling protein which may catalyze the physiological 'proton leak' in liver. Over expression induces the dissipation of mitochondrial membrane potential.

  band observed at around 35 kda in mouse liver is possibly the protein of interest (expected size). other bands at 44 kda may be nontarget/nonspecific binding.
