Description
Nicotinamide Nucleotide Adenylyltransferase 2 (NMNAT2) is a member of the nicotinamide mononucleotide adenylyltransferase (NMNAT) enzyme family. The NMNAT2 enzyme is located in the cytoplasm and is predominantly expressed in the brain; unlike other members of the NMNAT family which are ubiquitously expressed in the nucleus. NMNAT2 catalyzes the formation of NAD(+) from nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) and ATP. NMNAT2 will also catalyze the reverse reaction of pyrophosphorolytic cleavage of NAD(+).
