JPH1 is a gene which codes for a protein that contributes to the formation of skeletal muscles, as well as a membrane complex which links the plasma membrane to the endoplasmic/sarcoplasmic reticulum as well as serves as a structural base for communication between the cell surface and intracellular calcium channels and is 661 amino acids long, weighing approximately 72 kDa. Current studies are being done on diseases and disorders related to this gene such as pneumonia, malaria, and neuronitis. JPH1 has also been shown to have interactions with SMAD3, TP63, TP73, JPH2, and JPH3.
