Description
4-HNE is a hydroxyalkenal which is produced by lipid peroxidation in cells. It is found in higher quantities during stress, due to the increase in the lipid peroxidation reaction that accompanies stress events. 4-Hydroxynonenanal is believed to play a key role in signal transduction in a number of pathways, including cellular adhesion.
