Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) is an analytic biochemical assay that utilizes enzyme-linked antibodies on a microwell platform to quantitate specific proteins within biological samples. Visual detection is then achieved by adding the enzyme’s substrate, which causes a color-changing reaction to occur. There are three different types of ELISA that are most commonly used: indirect ELISA, sandwich ELISA and competitive ELISA. These assays are extremely useful for high-throughput diagnostic screenings drug testing.
