Chlamydia trachomatis is an intracellular organism. Chlamydia usually infects the cervix and fallopian tubes of women and the urethra of men. Chlamydial infections are believed to be one of the most common of all STDs. It is generally thought that in a population of 15 million, there are up to 300,000 cases of chlamydia each year. Thus, there are many undiagnosed cases of chlamydia in the community. It has been estimated that the true prevalence of chlamydia in the sexually active population may be in the order of 5% to 10%. Chlamydia is one of the leading causes of blindness in underdeveloped countries.

Can you tell me sub-species for Chlamydia Trachomatis Momp Antibody (1297/143), catalog # NB100-66403? Also, how did you check reactivity?
NB100-66403 has been tested by ELISA and WB against serotype E, but none others. However, we do have a customer report that they tried testing against all other serovars and were able to see signal. I do not have any additional details regarding our customer testing; I do not know whether they tested other serovars via ELISA or WB.
Did you ever try WB for cross-reactivity with E. coli. We are trying to over-express and getting lot of background with in-hand antibodies.
We have not tested this antibody on E. coli samples.
Could I get more information about this antibody?
NB100-66403 was raised against type E MOMP (the major outer membrane) from C. trachomatis. Although both Chiamydia and Escherichia are the Gram Negative bacteria. E. coli has to have the identical type E MOMP to be detected by NB100-66403.
