Co-transcription of this gene and the neighboring downstream gene (UBE2V1) generates a rare transcript (Kua-UEV), which encodes a fusion protein comprised of sequence sharing identity with each individual gene product. The product of the Kua gene has UEV1 B domains but this protein is localized to the cytoplasm rather than to the nucleus. [provided by RefSeq]
