Relaxin-1 is a protein that is 185 amino acids long, weighs approximately 21 kDa, and has a shorter isoform that is 117 amino acids long and weighs approximately 13 kDa. Relaxin-1 functions as an ovarian hormone that combines with estrogen to produce birth canal dialation as well as remodels connective tissues during pregnancy.
