Description
REG1, also known as Lithostathine-1-alpha, is a secreted 19kDa 166 amino acid protein. The gene is a type I subclass member of the Reg gene family and is associated with pancreas and brain regeneration. Current research on REG1 is being conducted in relation to cystic fibrosis, nephropathy, cerebral atherosclerosis, hereditary pancreatitis, pancreatitis, celiac disease, hepatocellular carcinoma, Alzheimer's disease and Down syndrome. REG1 has been linked to the secretion, cell proliferation, coagulation and cell growth pathways where it interacts with REG3A.
