Description

RAP74, also known as General transcription factor IIF subunit 1, is a 517 amino acid that is approx. 58 kDa; nucleus located heterodimer composed of an alpha and a beta subunit; attaches to RNA polymerase II and helps to engage it to the initiation complex in collaboration with TFIIB, promoting transcription elongation. This protein has been involved in the following diseases and disorders: human t-cell leukemia virus type 1, sporadic breast cancer, conjunctivitis, immunodeficiency, rhabdomyosarcoma, colon adenocarcinoma, breast cancer, hepatitis c, and adenocarcinoma. The RAP74 protein has shown interactions with over 200 proteins includingTAF1, FEZ1, PTN, GTF2B, and POLR2A in protein acetylation and deacetylation, assembly of RNA polymerase-II initiation complex, glucocorticoid receptor signaling, estrogen pathway, transcription of mRNA, transcription ligand-dependent transcription of retinoid-target genes, and chromatin regulation/acetylation pathways.
