Description
NINJ2 (Ninjurin2 or Nerve injury-induced protein 2) is a 142 amino acid member of the nerve injury induced family of proteins. Ninjurin2 is a hemophilic cell adhesion protein that promotes axonal growth. It is upregulated in Schwann cells surrounding the distal segment of injured nerve, and promotes neurite outgrowth. It may play a role in nerve regeneration following nerve injury. It may also play a role in acrocallosal syndrome, alzheimer's disease, thyroiditis, neuronitis and prostatitis.
