HSF4 is a gene which codes for a DNA-binding protein that binds to heat shock promoter elements and is expressed in the heart, skeletal muscle, eyes and brain, with an isoform with a length of 492 amino acids and a weight of approximately 53 kDa which activates transcription, and a shorter isoform with a length of 462 amino acids and a weight of approximately 50 kDa that represses transcription. Current studies are being done on several disorders and diseases relating to this gene including cataract, otitis media, cervical adenitis, Scheuermann's disease, Ritter's disease, and impetigo. HSF4 has also been shown to have interactions with CDK2AP2, NUDT21, C5orf54, MAPK1, and DUSP26.
