CWC22, also known as Pre-mRNA-splicing factor CWC22 homolog, consists of a long 908 amino acid isoform that is 105 kDa, and is involved in pre-mRNA splicing, though its exact function within the process is still a focus of research. Current disease research is being conducted on the relation between CWC22 and nevus, cerebral malaria, cerebritis, and malaria. The protein is linked to a RNA metabolic processing and mRNA splicing, through which it interacts with DHX15, PRPF6, EIF4A3, FAM32A, and FRG1.
