DAG1, also known as Dystroglycan, is a 97.4 kDa 895 amino acid protein and is a candidate gene site for an autosomal recessive mutation causing muscular dystrophy. Disease research is being conducted with several diseases and disorders including muscular dystrophy, intellectual disabilities, squamous cell carcinoma, muscle-eye-brain disease, and inclusion body myopathy. The protein has been linked to interacting with FYN, UTRN, PIK3R1, SRC, and NCK1 in the viral myocarditis, integrated breast cancer, integrated pancreatic cancer, and dilated cardiomyopathy pathways.
