AGPAT1 (1-acyl-sn-glycerol-3-phosphate acyltransferase alpha) is a 283 amino acid enzyme located in the endoplasmic reticulum that converts lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) into phosphatidic acid (PA) by incorporating an acyl moiety at the sn-2 position of the glycerol backbone. Defects in this protein have been linked to aspergillosis, systemic lupus erythematosus, meningitides, lupus erythematosus, Alzheimer's disease, gastric cancer and tuberculosis.
