Novus Biologicals launches a line of RAW 264.7 lysates

Now equipped with the a new tissue culture facility, Novus Biologicals has the ability to manufacture lysates in-house. The first Novus-made lysates that were launched and marketed this week are RAW 264.7 whole cell T0901317 treated and untreated lysates.

RAW 264.7 is a murine macrophage cell line that is commonly utilized in the study of immunology, metabolism and apoptosis.  Novus' cells were grown to 70-80% confluence then treated with 1uM T0901317 for 24 hours.  Following this 24 hour period, cells lysates were prepared in RIPA buffer using standard methodology. T0901317 is a Liver X Receptor (LXR) agonist which acts to upregulate ABCA1 gene expression and promotes reverse cholesterol transport from macrophages.  Novus' new RAW 264.7 treated and untreated lysates are thus useful as positive and negative controls for anti-ABCA1 testing in Western blot.  Also of note, Novus offers a full line of ABCA1 antibodies:

  • Rabbit polyclonal anti-ABCA1 antibody - catalog #: NB400-105
  • Mouse monoclonal anti-ABCA1 antibody (HJ1) - catalog #: NB100-2068
  • Rat monoclonal anti-ABCA1 antibody (3A1.891.3) - catalog #: NB400-164
  • Rat monoclonal anti-ABCA1 antibody (5A1-1422.11) - catalog #: NB400-165

The untreated and treated RAW 264.7 whole cell lysates are sold separately (catalog #s: NBP1-30157 and NBP1-30158, respectively), as well as together in a 2 vial kit (catalog #: NBP1-30159).  Both the treated and untreated RAW 264.7 lysates are useful for Western blot analysis.  The suggested load volume is 10uL per lane. The protein itself is supplied in 1x Laemmli Sample Buffer without 2-Mercaptoethanol, although 2-Mercaptoethanol should be added to 10% prior to use.
