Background
Taxol (paclitaxel) is particularly effective as an anticancer agent because tubulin is not its only target. It also binds to a protein called Bcl-2, which normally blocks the process of apoptosis, or cell death. Taxol therefore plays a dual role in destroying dividing cells, firstly by stabilizing assembled microtubules and thereby halting mitosis, and secondly by inhibiting Bcl-2 and allowing apoptosis to proceed.

Hi. I am looking at an anti-Taxol antibody (NBP1-05003). Taxol (paclitaxel) is a small molecule. I see that the antibody was raised to a paclitaxel-BSA conjugate. Has it been tested for reactivity against paclitaxel specifically? and not BSA?
I received a response from the lab that they performed a high titer test by paclitaxel-Tg, but no formal data is available. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
I did not find data on sensitivity of the abs to detect taxol in term of nanograms/ml have some data or references?
Antigen is coated on EIA strips at 0.4ug per well. Antiserum NBP1-05003 is diluted in series as 10^1 - 10^4 folds and added in separate wells. Incubate antibody for 0.5 hr. Wash unbound antibodies and add anti-rabbit IgG-HRP conjugate. Wash the plates and add substrate todevelop color for 5 min. Read absorbance (ABS) at 405 nm. Amount of color is directly proportional to the amount of antibodies. Antibody is positive at >2 folds of ABS of control/Pre-Immune serum.
We are interested in ordering the product with catalog no. NBP1-05003 (Taxol antibody). Our purpose is to use it in immunohistochemistry. We have two questions: 1. What about a positive control of the product? Do you provide one? How is it possible to obtain a positive control? 2. Is it possible to provide us with histology-microscopic pictures of the product used on tissue so that we could have an idea on the staining of tissue with the product?
Taxol is a pharmacological substance. The only way to obtain a positive control would be to obtain tissues from an animal that has been treated with Taxol. Unfortunately, this is not something we have available for sale in our catalog. We have only tested this antibody for use in ELISA, so we do not have slides available with Taxol present since we have never tested it for use in IHC.
