This antibody is useful for Western blot. The size of the band is dependent on the size of the protein that has undergone methionine oxidation. It has also been used for immunohistochemistry on paraffin sections (rat brain with heat mediated antigen retrieval). Immunocytochemistry/Immunofluorescence was reported in scientific literature.

Background
Methionine (Met) oxidation is one of the most common posttranslational modifications to proteins that may alter protein structure and function. Accumulation of proteins containing methionine sulfoxide (MetO) is known to occur during oxidative stress. If the reversal of protein MetO to Met is not sufficient it may cause proteins to loose function, aggregate and be toxic to the cell. Methionine oxidation in proteins has been associated with neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease.

FAQs for Methionine Sulfoxide Antibody (NBP1-06707). (Showing 1 - 1 of 1 FAQs).
I would like to ask which protein was NBP1-06707 prepared against? Is there any species that the antibody is not compatible with?
The immunogen is from the zein protein of Zea mays which was oxidized and is methionine rich. Any known incompatible species will be listed on our datasheet but it shouldn't be species specific and should react with most species.
