Application Notes
The monoclonal antibody ER-MP23 can be used for immunohistology on frozen sections. Furthermore, the monoclonal antibody is useful for flow cytometry and for studies on inhibition of biological activity of the mouse macrophage galactose-specific lectin (MGL).For immunohistology and flow cytometry dilutions to be used depend on detection system applied. It is recommended that users test the reagent and determine their own optimal dilutions. The typical starting working dilution is 1:50. For blocking studies in vitro, dilutions have to be made according to the amounts of MGL to be inactivated. The antigen is glutaraldehyde (0.05%) resistant.

Background

Monoglyceride lipase is expressed in kidney, spleen, heart, liver, testis, stomach, brain and lung tissue, and adrenal gland. It is most abundantly expressed in skeletal muscle and adipose tissue. Endocannaboids such as arachidonoyl ethanolamide and 2-arachidonoyl glycerol function as short range modulators of cell and synaptic activity. Monoglyceride lipase hydrolyzes 2-arachidonoyl glycerol which terminates it's biological actions. Monoglyceride lipase also works consecutively with hormone sensitive lipase to mobilize fatty acids from triglyceride stores of adipocytes.
