Description
Interferon-activable protein 204 belongs to the HIN-200 family, which contains one DAPIN domain and two HIN-200 domains. It is reported to inhibit transcription of ribosomal RNA and thus acts as a multifunctional regulator of cell proliferation and differentiation. It is reported to act as a transcriptional coactivator of Cbfa1 (Core binding factor alpha-1) and enhances osteoblast differentiation. It enables skeletal muscle and cardiac myocyte differentiation by sequestering Id proteins in the cytosol and promoting their ubiquitination and subsequent degradation. It is also reported that Ifi204 is trancriptionally activated in response to M-CSF and thus involved in macrophage differentiation in myeloid progenitor cells.
