Description
HCV is a positive, single-stranded RNA virus in the Flaviviridae family. The polyprotein is processed by host cell and viral proteases into three major structural proteins including NS3, and several non-structural proteins necessary for viral replication. Nonstructural (NS) proteins of HCV play major roles in viral replication and the pathogenesis of liver diseases. The NS3 protein of hepatitis C virus (HCV) contains protease and RNA helicase activities, both of which are likely to be essential for HCV propagation. Recombinant HCV NS3 protein was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
