DAZ3, also known as Deleted in azoospermia protein 3, consists of a 55 kDa and a 49.5 kDa isoform and is involved in regulating the translation of the 3'-UTR sequence of mRNAs. It is a candidate gene site for AZF, or human Y-chromosomal azoospermia factor. Research with DAZ3 is being conducted with disorders and diseases such as infertility, spermatogenic failure, cryptorchidism, and azoospermia. This protein has been linked to the spermatogenesis pathway where it interacts with UBC and PUM2.
