Background

Mouse TIM-6 is a type I transmembrane protein belonging to the TIM family, which has eight mouse (TIM-1 through TIM-8) and three human (TIM-1, TIM-3, and TIM-4) members. All family members share a characteristic extracellular region containing an immunoglobulin V and a mucin domain. The function of mouse TIM-6 is not known.
