Thyroxine Antibody (1H1) Summary

• Immunogen: Hybridoma clone has been derived from hybridization of Sp2/0 myeloma cells with spleen cells of Balb/c mice immunized with conjugate of purified thyroxine with BSA.
• Specificity: This reacts with conjugate T4-BSA and with free thyroxine in ELISA. Cross-reactivity with triiodothyronine is less than 1%.
• Isotype: IgG1

Background

Hormone produced by the thyroid glands to regulate metabolism by controlling the rate of oxidation in cells. Cases of hypothyroidism, where the gland is insufficiently active, can be treated by administration of thyroxine or a combination of thyroxine and triiodothyronine.
