• Specificity: NB100-62931 is specific for Staphylococcus aureus enterotoxin B, an exotoxin excreted by Staphylococcus aureus that is the cause of classic food poisoning. It consists of 239 amino acids with a molecular weight of 28 kDa and is one of six antigenically distinct enterotoxin proteins that have been identified (A, B, C, D, E and G). NB100-62931 does not react with Staphylococcus epidermis, Streptococcus pneumoniae serotypes 1-19 or other Staphylococcal toxins.

Staphylococcus aureus are gram-positive bacteria that, although part of the normal flora of humans (nasal passages, skin and mucous membranes), have the potential to become opportunistic pathogens. S. aureus is a frequent cause of a wide range of infections and some bacterial strains have become resistant to many commonly used antibiotics.
