Background

Belonging to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family, olfactory receptor 10G2 (OR10G2) is integral to the membrane. Sharing a 7-transmembrane domain structure with neurotransmitter and hormone receptors, these olfactory receptors recognize the G protein-mediated transduction of odorant signals in the nose. More specifically, these olfactory receptors initiate a neuronal response that triggers the perception of a smell.
