Background

Marek's Disease Virus, (MDV), is an oncogenic avian double stranded DNA herpesvirus. It is highly contagious and results in aggressive T-cell lymphomas. Infection of MDV occurs via the respiratory tract, where its uptake by macrophages and dendritic cells allows it to be transported in the bloodstream to visceral organs and peripheral nerves, causing death in up to 80 percent of birds. It occurs in two main forms, depending on which parts of the body are affected by the tumours. In the nervous form the nerves, particulary the sciatic nerves, are affected. In the visceral form, greyish-white tumours are found in the ovaries, liver, spleen, kidney, heart and other organs.

1. Do you have a Marek's disease antibody ELISA kit?
   • Unfortunately, we do not appear to have a Marek's disease ELISA kit. However, we do have antibodies for Marek's disease suitable for ELISA, which you can view using this link.
2. May we ask the suggested antibody pair for detecting Marek Disease virus by ELISA? If performing direct ELISA by using NB110-59908 only, may we ask if there is the protocol availble for the customer's reference?
   • It appears that NB110-59908 is our only Marek Dieases Virus ab. Unfortunately we do not have any specified protocol to give as this antibody has not been tested in house. I can only recommend to test the antibodies in the users own application and determine the suitability and optimal working concentration by experiment. Please see our general protocol.
