Background

Influenza A virus subtype H3N2, also known as H3N2, is a subtype of viruses that cause influenza (flu). H3N2 Viruses can infect birds and mammals. In birds, humans, and pigs, the virus has mutated into many strains. Hemagglutinin(HA) binds to sialic acid-containing receptors on the cell surface, bringing about the attachment of the virus particle to the cell. It plays a major role in the determination of host range restriction and virulence and is responsible for penetration of the virus into the cell cytoplasm by mediating the fusion of the membrane of the endocytosed virus particle with the endosomal membrane. Recombinant Influenza A virus (H3N2, canine) HA protein, fused to His-tag at C-terminus, was expressed in Hi-5 cell and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.

FAQs for Influenza A H3N2 Hemagglutinin Recombinant Protein (NBP1-99037). (Showing 1 - 1 of 1 FAQ).

  1. Does the protein NBP1-99037 have infectivity?
    • No, NBP1-99037 is not infectious. The purpose of manufacturing this product by our lab is for using as the positive control in WB/PAGE.  NBP1-99037 is a recombinant protein, containing mainly the amino acids 18-344 derived from the hemagglutinin (HA) of the Influenza A H3N2 (canine) strain.  Although HA has been know to bind to the receptor on the cell surface, the carbohydrate moiety is responsible for interaction.  Fortunately, the E. coli-expressed proteins won't have the glycosylated modifications, hence this protein is not going to bind to influenza's receptor. In summary, this is just a regular recombinant protein, similar to many others, that do not post any harmful effect of any kind to human.
