| Description | The lyophilized antiserum is shipped at ambient temperature and may be stored at 4C; prolonged storage at or below -20C. Dilutions may be prepared by adding phosphate buffered saline (PBS, pH 7.2). Repeated thawing and freezing should be avoided. If a slight precipitation occurs upon storage, this should be removed by centrifugation. It will not affect the performance of the antiserum. Diluted antiserum should be stored at 4C, not refrozen, and preferably used the same day. |
| Immunogen | Pools of purified homogenous IgD isolated from BALB/C and C57Bl mouse serum. Freund's complete adjuvant is used in the first step of the immunization procedure. |
| Specificity | The reactivity of the antiserum is restricted to the Fc portion of the IgD molecule, which represents strict isotype (class) specificity. In immunoelectrophoresis and radial immunodiffusion, using various antiserum concentrations against mouse serum belonging to different allotypic groups, a single characteristic precipitin line is obtained which shows a reaction of identity with the precipitin line obtained with the purified IgD from Balb/C and C57Bl. No precipitation reaction is obtained with purified IgG, including all subclasses, IgA, IgM, IgG/Fab fragments or other serum proteins. The antiserum also reacts with membranebound IgD in peripheral blood cells of different mouse strains as tested by immunofluorescence microscopy. |
