Background

Histones are a group of alkaline proteins found in eukaryotic cell nuclei which form reversible complexes with DNA called nucleosomes. Studies show that extracellular histones are major mediators of death and sepsis.1 Furthermore, TLR2 and TLR4 have been determined as the major receptors for extracellular histone mediated sterile inflammation, tissue injury, and death in mouse model systems.2 Product Validation The following data show that Histone activated TLR2, of which EC50 was determined as 159.2 ug/ml by doseresponse assay.
