Background
FBXW9, also known as F-box/WD repeat-containing protein 9, has 3 isoforms, a 488 amino acid isoform that is 54 kDa, a 478 amino acid isoform that is 53 kDa and a 458 amino acid isoform that is 51 kDa; acts as a substrate-recognition component of the SCF (SKP1-CUL1-F-box protein)-type E3 ubiquitin ligase complex. The protein is being studied for its involvement in neuronitis. FBXW9 has been shown to have interactions with SKP1, COPS6 and UBC in association of TriC/CCT with target proteins during biosynthesis, chaperonin-mediated protein folding, metabolism of proteins, and protein folding pathways.
