Background

Staphylococcal enterotoxins represent a group of proteins which are secreted by Staphylococcus aureus and cause the intoxication staphylococcal food poisoning syndrome. The illness is characterized by high fever, hypo tension, diarrhea, shock and, in some cases, death.
