Background

The DUS1L gene codes for a tRNA-dihydrouridine(16/17) synthase [NAD(P)(+)] like protein that is 473 amino acids long and has a mass of 53 kDA. Through interacting with genes such as MSH2, PAH, ACTR6, GOLGA4, and METTL1, DUS1L encourages the synthesis of dihydrouridine. DUS1L has been investigated regarding its role in malaria.
