| Description | Calcein Blue AM is a viability dye that can be used in permeabilized cells. Upon uptake by a live cell, Calcein Blue AM is cleaved by intracellular esterases resulting in fluorescence. Dead cells will not have sufficient esterase activity and will not fluoresce. In this way, dead cells may be identified by their low Calcein Blue AM signal. Calcein Blue AM is efficiently excited by a UV laser and emits at 450nm. |
