BirA Antibody (5B11c3-3) - BSA Free

Western Blot: BirA Antibody (5B11c3-3) [NBP2-59939] - Analysis in total cell lysate of parental HF (lane 1) or HF stably expressing GFP-NLS-BirA without (lane 2) or with induced expression (lane 3) were transferred to a nitrocellulose membrane and blotted for BirA with NBP2-59939. Both primary and secondary antibodies were diluted in blocking buffer (5% nonfat dry milk resuspended in 0.1% Tween and 1X PBS). The predicted GFP-NLS-BirA molecular weight is 66kDa.

The nuclei were visualized with Hoechst.

Background

BirA acts both as a biotin-operon repressor and as the enzyme that synthesizes the corepressor, acetyl-CoA:carbon-dioxide ligase. This protein also activates biotin to form biotinyl-5'-adenylate and transfers the biotin moiety to biotin-accepting proteins
