Background

Betamethasone is a potent synthetic corticosteroid with anti inflammatory and immunosuppressive abilities, but with insignificant mineralocorticoid activity. It is usually applied topically for the treatment of allergic reactions, eczema, and psoriasis. It can also be used to help control a wide number of disease states characterised by excessive inflammation they include severe allergic reactions, inflammation of the lungs in asthma, inflammation of the joints in arthritis, some auto immune diseases and some types of leukaemia.
