HIV Infections, or the Human Immunodeficiency Virus, is a virus that compromises the immune system and causes other infections to invade the body. HIV can be caused through sexual contact, blood, and mother to child. Symptoms of HIV Infections include fever, headache, sore throat, and rashes. People can live with an HIV infection for up to 20 years with no persisting symptoms. There are antiviral medications that are recommended, but there is no cure for HIV infections. HIV can progress to AIDS which has a life expectancy of about 3 years.
